Llangollen Fringe Festival

I've spent the last week covering the Llangollen Fringe Festival. It was a smaller event than in years past but a lot of good acts nonetheless.

The Drever McCusker Woomble Trio were the stand outs for me on the Monday night, with Boothby Graffoe's comedy night a very close second.

As always the technical challenges of photographing these events is no mean feat. As most of the events this year were seated, I found myself shooting mostly from the back of the room on a 500mm lens. This is less than ideal as that lens has a minimum aperature of f6.3, which meant that to hand hold the lens I'd need a shutter speed of 160th at ISO 1600-2000 in the dark rooms. The D300 coped pretty well with the noise though. Photos from the Woomble gig appeared in the Evening Leader.

It's been a long week, but a pretty successful one.
