The Blue Lagoon
I heard a disturbing rumor today: That the Blue Lagoon, one of my all time favourite places, had been drained. We decided to investigate, and luckily the rumor was false, the deep waters remain.
The Blue Pool is such a strange and unique place, a very deep lake in a slate quarry with water that turns perfect blue on a sunny day. On a day like today however the place takes on a completely different tone, witht he oppressive grey skies mingling with the dark grey slate to create an incredibly uninviting vista.
The dark day was a nice excuse to play with some off camera flash though. This is a technique that I use for portraits and interiors, I usually let the landscapes take care of themselves, but every now and then a little bit of directional light can really add a lot to an image, especally in a place like this with such rich textures.
